A Drive Back North To See Ern

Glad to See Dad!

We received a short notice that Ern was done early with his first round of moose hunters so we headed back up north to visit him. The weather up there has been great and it makes it easy for Ern to get all of his flying done. I told Haley that her daddy was flying the plane to visit her and we had to drive to meet him. She was all smiles and very happy to see his plane in the air heading in her direction. Needless to say, Ern was glad to see us too!

We had better luck camping this time compared to our last trip. I brought more blankets and we had a smaller tent. We all had great snuggle time and Haley enjoyed the warmth of the sun shining on the tent in the morning and did not really stir untill at least nine every morning. Can you seen the reading material that Ern is sharing with Haley? He does not waste a minute to share his passions and pleasures with her!

We had lots of picnics in lots of places! Haley likes to do what Ern does and has become very good at slurping out of her bowl! The picture on the left is a clean little girl after a shower. The moment was short lived and the pictures below tell the story!

Like the Hair!

We have been waiting all summer for a good warm day to play in the mud and we finally had our day! Haley ended up with a second shower by the time she was through!

A Visit With Friends

Ern flew us to a remote air strip to meet his friend Jim. I have heard about him and his wife and I was excited to meet them and see the area. I sad that I had just missed meeting Jim's wife by several hours but it was great to finally met him and another friend of his. He has a beautiful and unique place with an incredible view. He has hiked every where as far as you can see and he is still working on checking more X's off on the area map! He does epic traveling through the woods when he is not publishing books, and writing poems, or building new cabins all from scrap material he finds in the junk yard and then has flown in! Several families live in the area, some are there full time and others come and go through the year.

After a tour of Jim's place we got on the "wheeler" and headed off to see Dave.

Dave had a great place also. He built a deck that literally hangs on the side of cliff. It was a great place with lots of flowers, gardens, and a green house. They have telephone and Internet via satellite and yet use and old fashioned cook stove during the winter!

Roughing It!
We filled our time playing in the sun, picking berries, and playing at a great playground at a small town near by. Haley brought her trike and dolls every where she went!

Click on the slide show above to see how 'cheep' entertainment can be. I'm not sure if I mean for Haley or for Ernie and I!

Off To Fairbanks!

Then it was time to head to Fairbanks! We packed in allot in the short time we were here. I was able to meet a friend and her little girl Loloa for the first time. Loloa is a year younger than Haley almost to the date - she is a very cute and happy baby and it was so nice to get to see them. Sue and Andy are quite the Alaskan family and if you want to see for your self click on this link!http://picasaweb.google.com/team.seitz/

Ern took the time to show Haley the local farms in town with geese and muskox and Haley soaked it all up! She is growing up and loves to learn about her environment. We just can't keep up with all of her new words and sentences she says! We all had a really great time - and then it was time to start the 6 hour drive toward home! Haley is quite the trooper!
