Ern had less than 24 hours between his his survey jobs. He finished up in McGrath one morning and was due in the Yukon Territory the following day. I packed up a few things, the dogs, and the kids and drove the five hours toward Fairbanks to meet up
with him for an overnight camp trip. I was anxious about how the kids might do on the long drive but they both did great on the ride up and back and we had a really nice time together. I won't lie - of course there were a few tears shed here and there, but over all it was so nice to get out of town and to have a chance to see Ern. The weather was as good as one could hope for and Kai even slept through the night! It was nice for us to all be together and will help to break up the time that he is away!
Of course he could not pass up an opportunity to pick up a little special something on his way to see us and only set him back three hours to land and haul back his prize! Haley loves her dad and is always sad to see him go............
