Cabin Trip Part Four

Beach Time I always dreamt about someday owning a little spot along a beach some where. My dream came true but it is not quite what I had envisioned!!! It is not the sunny sandy warm beach with bath temp waters. It is often cold, windy, very rocky with lots of glacial silt mud that stains the water to a milky deep grey all year round. -And we love it. We love it when it is full with fish and we love it when it is full with drift ice. Haley would spend all day every day there if she could. I may one day be reinvigorated with her youthful zest, but it will have to be when Kai gets a little older. It is fun and beautiful, but four days with a 'wee one' is enough to satisfy my pallet and spark an itchy yearning for the creature comforts of home!Ice Jumper

There is a bit of an ice shelf to hurdle over to get down to the beach from the cabin and the whole thing changes with each out going tide. Haley got more and more brave with each step she made closer to the beach.

Our kid is getting more brave and daring by the day and I wonder if she has watched her favorite movie, "The Incredibles" one too many times!

With each fall she was more determined to jump higher and farther.

By the time we made it to the open water and slush ice she was wanting to try her hand at ice burg hopping and could not understand why I told her "no", and, "No you cant go swimming!" We made our way begrudgingly back after several failed attempts to build an ice snow man that the dogs had great fun repeatedly knocking down. By the time we made it back to the cabin she was glad to shed her wet gear and snuggle with Grammie Finch who made her a nice cup of hot coco.

Kai's First Time On The Beach.

Kai's favorite thing on the beach was watching his sister but his little baby tolerance was short lived.

I'm going to have two little ice monsters down there next year!
