Flying High!

When I woke up this morning I knew it would be a good day for flying. The moon was full and bright and the sky was clear. This would be the first day for some sun and blue skis that we have seen in a few weeks. It is always a process to get out for a winter flight. Ern headed to the plane early to do the engine pre-heat while I took Haley to the dentist to have her first official teeth cleaning. (She did great by the way!) We are so Lucky that Grandma and Grandpa Finch are happy to have the kids while Ern and I fly. I will admit that it was easier to hop in and fly off without kids, now when I drop them off I give them and extra hug and kiss and move on to enjoy our life today for what it is. Today was my first flight since Kai was born and my last flight, I was pretty pregnant and miserable and Ern had to help shove my whole self in the plane! Grandpa is always at home pacing while he waits for the latest update on the bull moose that we find. Before we head off we do a quick fly by over their house and wave to Haley. It is hard to see but the speck between the struts is Haley and Grandpa waving up at us. There was not much for moose today but it was just so nice to be out. Finding moose from the air is often like a blurry motion picture of where is Waldo. The feeling is much like an Easter egg hunt and there is always an adrenaline rush when you spot a moose with antlers or better yet - an antler on the ground just waiting for a pick up! It was nice to make a short stop at the glacier to relieve batters and exchange a kiss in the quiet kid-less , dog-less, city-noise silence with only the sound of glacier water flowing beneath the ice under us.Although it is rather grey out there are still hidden colors to see. If you look close every color of the rainbow can be found and the patterns and textures are so amazing to me. The sun still sets pretty early these days and it is time to head home. There is still a whole evening left to play with kids and howl at the moon!
