Our Little Finch Flock Family

We are on the go quite often but when we are home we like to keep things pretty simple. We have never bought play dough or play dough toys. Haley has been happy with simple tools like a knife, chopsticks, and polly dolls to use with the play dough we make. It has eventually turned grey after mixing the small gift size play dough. It was all fine with her - she did lots of imaginative play with the grey stuff and pretended that it was inlet mud with polly dolls and dogs getting stuck and playing along the Alaskan beach. She is learning more about sewing, lately she enjoys "pinning". She pins fabrics together and pushes pins through button holes. She is learning all the different buttons and levers on the sewing machine and knows more about sewing at this point than I did last year!

The gray play dough was fun but it was time for some new colors! It is as much fun to make it as it is to play with it. Today she said, "Momma I'm still getting used to this new play dough and asked to have her gray stuff back out. ( I don't know if that is a good or a bad sign!)It is amazing how quick you can make a small living space look like a total disaster. This is the living room on a clean day when Haley is playing!

Bath Time

It's double duty when it comes to Baths! They both seem to enjoy them and I am excited for the time when they can play in the tub together!

Potty Training Yeah!!

I knew Haley would start training when she was ready and when I could find the right bribes! Nothing pleases her more than to make her daddy proud. After we watched him fly off to be out of town for a few weeks I asked her if she wanted to surprise him and learn to go on the potty before he returned home. She was very excited about this and to get a chance to have her Halloween candy for rewards. I was hoping she would be ready by the time she was three and she started two days before her third birthday! I started fresh and just put the potty on the living room and had her watch TV and sit as long and as often as she wanted to. She worked so hard for the first few drops but it was old hat by the end of the day. She sat so long and so often that she had black and blue marks on the back of her legs! ( While she was peeing in the potty our dog was pooping in the garage - if it is not one mess it is another!!!) We have worked our way back into the bathroom and now just have the "number two" hurdle to cross.She is so excited about wanting to go that she asks for water! -- I know it is just for the treat! -- I can live with the sugar high for a few days -- I hope!Everyone is doing it!

Outside FunWe love the walking loop trail that is out our back yard. It is a nice 20 minute walk around and it has been especially nice to have a sunny extended fall. She loves playing fetch with the dogs and there is always a bit of hide and seek along the trail on the way home.

Tinker Time At The Museum
I love all the community events that they have for kids during the day. It was our first time to go to the scheduled tinker time at the museum. It is a two hour chunk of crafts, story time and free exploration. Haley had fun and especially liked that her friend Sarah was there.Kai was also in good company with Becca and friend
