Happy Mothers Day!
Cabin Trip
We flew to the cabin on Saturday and Haley had her work cut out for her! She learned lots of things on her short trip! She learned how to kill mosquitoes with the swatter and was very proud of her collection at the end of the day. She was very focused and serious about planting the potatoes just right for her Grandma - the kid loves planting things and watching things grow! After a nap at our small cabin she walked on the porch and said, "Momma, look - its baby Beluga swimming in the sea!". I thought she might have seen a big log - but no - she spotted her first whale on her own!
Uncle Todd and cousins were there to give her a fill of Hide and seek - she had the most fun throwing rocks and sticks for the dogs on the beach!
Time to Fly Home A Peek back in April
There is never a dull moment at Grandma and Grandpa Finches house! Moose meat canning day is quite a process. Family friends Dan, Todd, and Loren always come and then they split up the 180 or so cans of meat to use for hunting and fishing season. Haley loves to help and spent over two hours helping to put chopped meat into the pans!
Work is not over once the cans are in the pressure cooker.
Often serious and looking for things to do and ways to help.
There are trees to pull out and tractors to drive.
There are plenty of antlers to weigh and measure, Haley loves it all and is becoming quite handy with the tape measure!
It was time for a family bond fire the weekend after canning day. There were lots of trees to burn from the ones that were cut in the yard. We actually say the fire smoke as we got on the highway leaving Anchorage (20 miles away)! Grandpa never does anything small and we thought sure that the fire department would be there before we were! After the flames died down to reasonable embers it was time for a Hot dog roast! After everyone was filled up with dogs and smores the cousins did what they could to wrestle Ern to the ground.
They are getting big and it is getting to be a pretty even fight any more!
